Volunteers

Putting on an event of this size is a challenge, and we can’t do it without the help of volunteers (set-up, teardown, door/registration, decorating, and Safer Spaces)! Volunteers get reimbursed at $15/hr, up to the registration cost. Volunteers are also welcome to donate their time (no reimbursement) if they so desire. 

Safer Spaces Volunteers (SSVs) are a special category of volunteers for this event. SSVs are a dedicated team that supports our commitment to providing a welcoming space that is free of harassment. SSVs will be trained in de-escalation techniques and proper responses by our Safer Spaces Coordinator, Chris Parks. SSV responsibilities include the following: 

• Be visible and available to help if an issue arises

• Scan the floor for any behaviors that seem unsafe

• Make extra effort to dance with beginners, wallflowers, and people who may not be getting asked to dance
